An Extraordinary Couple of Days at the Power Station

Last week at the legendary Power Station, a Dario Cohen recording session came to life in the best possible way.
After three focused pre-production sessions with my dear friend Rob Mathes, we were incredibly fortunate to be joined by the venerable Will Lee on bass and background vocals, along with Shawn Pelton on drums and percussion. Having musicians of this caliber in the room brings a level of trust, depth, and musical conversation that simply can’t be manufactured.
With Rob’s beautifully crafted arrangements and charts—and his formidable talents on grand piano, Rhodes, Wurlitzer, and B3—we truly captured lightning in a bottle. Guiding it all from the control room was Grammy Award-winning engineer Jamie Siegel, whose ears, instincts, and calm presence helped translate inspired performances into something lasting.
Moments like these are a reminder of why we do this: the music, the camaraderie, and the magic that happens when world-class musicians—and all-around fine human beings—come together with a shared purpose.
Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it.
